With conference championship weekend and bowl season all that is left in the 2018 college football season, there aren’t many on-field opportunities for the top prospects for the 2019 NFL Draft to separate themselves from the pack. Defense will likely dominate the first round of the draft this year because of the plethora of outstanding prospects on that side of the football. Particularly along the defensive line, quality players can be had at the end of the first round, and potentially even second round as teams reach to fill needs. The most interesting subplot of the first round this year is how many quarterbacks will be taken. At the moment, only Oregon’s Justin Herbert has solidified himself as a first round prospect. Players like Missouri’s Drew Lock, West Virginia’s Will Grier, NC State’s Ryan Finley, and even Duke’s Daniel Jones, are all in the conversation for the No. 2 QB in this class, and any of the quartet could find themselves taken in the first round as clubs look to find their signal caller of the future.
