The 2022 NFL draft kicks off on Thursday, April 28. So, we’re less than a month away. At this point, every team has all their reports from area scouts that have funneled up to the highest levels of player personnel. A lot of the pro days have already happened, further illuminating the evaluation process established by game tape, postseason all-star games, and the scouting combine. Big boards and internal mock drafts have happened and will continue to happen, and for the most part, teams are pretty dialed-in as far as who they want most, and who they can get if they miss out on the game of musical chairs that might take those favorite players away. This particular two-round mock draft exercise is mostly about who teams might covet at their picks, but it’s also a bit of a big board. Next week, mark Schofield and myself will be unleashing our position lists for draft prospects at all positions, full of detailed evaluations, tape examples, and advanced metrics. That will roll into our list of the top 50 prospects in the 2022 draft class, so we’re getting things dialed in over in the Touchdown Wire front office, as well. Here, with all that in mind, is one version of how the first 64 picks might go. No trades here, so it’s a situation where teams get who they get in the selection process.
