Free agent signings, trades and compensatory picks, oh my! We’re a long ways away from where we began. The draft order has been altered and it’s time to re-examine all the rosters to formulate an updated batch of team needs. Regardless of all the happenings, it’s very possible there’s only one defender drafted in the top-10 this year. It would be the first time since the merger (1970). Only two defensive players were selected in the first 10 picks of the 1971, 1983, 1995 and 2021 drafts. This week’s projections would make it five times in the last 54 years, but the top three receivers have to be drafted before the Bears at No. 9 for it to play out that way.
