After several weeks, the Jacksonville Jaguars put an end to their head coaching search when they announced the hiring of Doug Pederson. Even if you believe that Tampa Bay Buccaneers Byron Leftwich was a better fit for the team, you should like what Pederson brings to the table. Trevor Lawrence does and has even hinted that he has a surprise in store for his new head coach. Now, Pederson has his work cut out and has a steep hill to climb if he wants to turn around the fortunes of a Jaguars team that has won a paltry 15 games over the last four seasons. Fortunately, this isn’t Pederson’s first rodeo, and has proven he has the football acumen to win games in the NFL. Back in Philadelphia, Pederson took the Eagles to the playoffs in three wins and helped them win their first Super Bowl — but not their first championship — in franchise history. Also, he groomed Carson Wentz and turned him into an upper-echelon quarterback in just his second season in the league. His performance has taken a significant hit since then but that is a topic for another discussion.
