Via the Matthew Stafford trade last offseason, the Detroit Lions have an extra first-round pick this year and next. Of course this year, with the Los Angeles Rams winning the Super Bowl, that second Day 1 pick for Detroit will be No. 32 overall. But with those two first-rounders, three of the first 34 picks and five of the top 100 selections, the Lions are very well-positioned in terms of draft capital. That opens up the idea of moving around the draft board, down from No. 2 or up from the late first-round, early second-round area, if there are opportunities. That extra 2023 first-round pick is also in general manager Brad Holmes’ back pocket, if he wants too get real aggressive to make a move up in the first round for someone. In this mock, the Lions turned away all trade offers and stood with the picks they’ll have (including projected comp picks). With 10 picks, plenty of young talent will be added to the mix after the Lions’ 2021 rookie class performed well.
