For a decade, the Rams defense has been built around Aaron Donald. His presence in the middle of the defensive line made life easier for everyone around him, but Los Angeles will no longer have the luxury of fielding a future Hall of Famer on defense. Even if the Rams knew Donald’s retirement was coming, it’s impossible to have any sort of plan to replace an all-world talent like No. 99. That doesn’t mean they should sit idly by and hope their current players step up in his place. They need to be proactive in finding defensive help, whether it’s at edge rusher or defensive tackle -- or ideally, both. In this seven-round mock draft, the Rams prioritize the defense and find a few playmakers who can help make Chris Shula’s unit one of the best in football.
