In a recent article, I laid out five different trade down scenarios for the Indianapolis Colts. In this seven-round mock draft, I put one of those scenarios to the test to see how things would turn out using PFF’s mock draft simulator. When I was on the clock at pick 15, I felt that there were plenty of good players at positions of need for me to choose from, which gave me the confidence to move down to pick 24 with Dallas. At least for me, cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Terrion Arnold are must-drafts for the Colts, but both were already off the board. A few of those players who were still available were edge rusher Jared Verse, receiver Brian Thomas, and cornerbacks Cooper DeJean, Kool-Aid McKinstry, and Nate Wiggins. With how deep the draft classes are at cornerback and receiver, in particular, I felt comfortable still being able to address those needs while also gaining an additional second-round pick in the process.
