The Colts and interior defender DeForest Buckner agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $46 million, further solidifying what was already a strong positional group on this team. Buckner is now under contract through the 2026 season as is Grover Stewart. Raekwon Davis is signed through 2025 and the Colts re-signed Taven Bryan this offseason to help bolster the rotational depth. They also have Eric Johnson under contract for two more years and recently spent a mid-round pick on Adetomiwa Adebawore. What was already a relatively low need for the Colts becomes an even lower priority following Buckner’s extension. With this being a heavily rotated position, depth is crucial, and it is worth noting that Bryan is a free agent again next offseason, and the Colts can get out of Davis’ deal at that time if needed. With that said, it’s not as if either of those factors are going to dictate how the Colts approach the draft at this position.
